Glenn Robbins

Mr. Glenn Haskel Robbins, Sr., 90, of Forest City, N.C. went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 4, 2015. A native of Rutherford County, he was the loving husband to Mary Padgett Robbins for 73 years and the son of the late Faye Robbins and Margaret Haynes Robbins. He retired from Cone Mills Plant and then worked for Tri-City Molds. He was a member of Avondale Methodist Church and in his spare time he enjoyed NASCAR racing, woodworking, and camping at Deep Creek with his family whom he loved so much. He was also an assistant scout master and micro-midget racer. Mr. Robbins earned the Purple Heart Award while serving his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Battle Of The Bulge during WWII.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Shelvy “Cooter” Wells of Forest City and Glenn “Buddy” Robbins, Jr. (Janice) also of Forest City; grandchildren, Nicole Hardin (Geoffrey), Jamy Parris, Chad Sechriest (Sharon) and Tray Robbins (Jessica); and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, and a son in-law.

Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Glenn’s life on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. at the home of Shelvy Wells, 2075 Chase High Rd., Forest City.

The family will be at the residence.
