Saturday’s Toy Run raises $11,470 and 80 bags of toys

This year’s Polk County Toy Run, held on Saturday, Nov. 28 was the second largest toy drive in Polk County in the last several years. This year, checks were distributed to the Polk County Department of Social Services, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Steps To HOPE and Thermal Belt Outreach Ministry to purchase toys for underprivileged children in Polk County. Each organization received a check for $2,750, for a total of $11,470 raised, plus hundreds of toys. The toy run in 2010 was the largest, which raised more than $13,300.
