June Rempert Radford

June Rempert Radford died at Tryon Estates in Columbus, N.C., on Dec. 1, 2015. She had battled Alzheimer’s disease for a number of years.

 

She was born in Chicago, Ill. on June 15, 1928, the youngest of Mabel and Fred Rempert’s four daughters. In February 1952, she met James Earl Radford, Sr., on a blind date in Washington, D.C.—and married him in October. This happiest of marriages lasted for 63 years. They brought up two children, Carol and Jim, in Silver Spring, Md. In 1979, they retired to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

June is survived by her husband, Earl; her daughter, Carol Radford Plambeck (Doug) of Tualatin, Ore.; her son, Dr. James E. Radford, Jr. (Heidi) of Hendersonville, N.C.; five grandchildren (Elisabeth Walk [Mitch] of Baltimore, Md.; Benjamin Radford of Arlington, Va.; Andrew Plambeck [Michelle] of Portland, Ore.; Rebecca Radford of Arlington, Va.; and Jacob Radford of Asheville, N.C.); and two great-grandchildren, Otto Plambeck of Portland, Ore., and Elsa Walk of Baltimore, Md.

 

A private family service will be held.
