Tryon fights vacant house fire Wednesday night

A fire in Lynn Wednesday just before 6 p.m. Wednesday brought fire departments from Tryon, Columbus, Saluda and Landrum along with the Polk County EMS.

The Tryon Fire Department was dispatched at 5:47 p.m. Wednesday to a structure fire at 231 Thermal View Drive in the Lynn community.

Tryon Fire Chief Joey Davis said upon arrival of the first fire units the fire was discovered to be in a vacant structure and was fully involved.

A person was in the structure during the fire was treated for minor smoke inhalation, according to Davis. Davis said he was outside of the structure when the Tryon Fire Department arrived.

The structure was a total loss, according to reports. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

The fire is under investigation by the Tryon Fire Department, the Polk County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
