The HSA U13 Azzurri Thunder soccer team played its final game of the season on Sunday, Nov. 1 in Bryson City, defeating the Macon County Soccer Club. The MCSA team, ranked fourth, came out to win and quickly took a 3-0 lead early in the first half.  However, they were no match as HSA mounted a surge and quickly reclaimed the lead and the win. This victory capped off an undefeated season for Team Thunder.

After dominating the games all season long, this group of young men became known as “that team from the mountains.” They were reputed to be very tough and skilled.

Coached by Carl Wilson, this U13 team is truly a team from the mountains with kids from Henderson County, as well as Polk and Transylvania Counties, and two private academies. The U13 team, under 15 years of age, is the only Classic Team available in Henderson County. They play both a fall and spring season.
