To the editor:

Lately everyone seems to be finding dumped and stray animals in our area, and we wanted to make sure that everyone had the information for the no-kill shelters in our general area, so here it is:

Greenville Animal Care Services is where all the strays for Greenville and Spartanburg Counties are taken. In 2014 they took in over 18,000 animals and if you were a dog, you had an 80 percent chance of getting out alive. If you were a cat, however, you had less than a 50 percent chance of making it out alive. If you call animal control for Greenville or Spartanburg County, this is where the animal ends up.

If you can spend a little time trying to find a safe place for these animals, it can make a huge difference for the animals.
