The City of Landrum has decided to seek grants in order to purchase a storage building for the Landrum Farmers Market.

Landrum City Council met Tuesday, Oct. 13 and discussed the possible purchase during its work session and meeting.

The farmers market made the request to the city. The farmers market has been able to get the storage space donated every season but during winter months the building goes back to stores and the farmers market has to keep its equipment at their homes. Equipment includes signs and umbrellas.

“They have asked if the city would purchase the building for them to keep permanently,” said city administrator Caitlin Cothran. “The company has agreed to move it at the end of the season to wherever we choose and move it back at the start of the market.”

The building is 8 ft. by 12 ft. and the cost is $1,350.
