To the editor:

The recent Tryon International Film Festival was such an exciting and fun-packed two days and was such a success that I’d like to thank all involved who made this event possible.

Several people I talked to who have attended or shown films at other festivals all over the country and beyond told me that the selections at TRIFF were of higher quality than most films they’ve seen at other festivals, and they were very impressed with the organization and professionalism they saw in Tryon.

The chance to see such varied and wonderful films from all over the world (as well as excellent locally-produced films) and to attend workshops on different aspects of film-making in Tryon is a film buff’s dream come true.

This festival was made possible by the tireless dedication and the long hours of hard work by the PCFI team, the cooperation and help of local venues, Tryon Fine Arts Center, Tryon Depot and the Tryon Theatre plus the many hours given by volunteer helpers.

I hope the town recognizes what a great wealth of talent it has in the three visionaries who had the foresight and daring to pull off such a successful first film festival. Congratulations to Lavin Cuddihee, Beau Menetre and Kirk Gollwitzer for a job well done. Very well done.
