Tryon Fine Arts Center announces Sculpture 2015, a juried regional sculpture exhibition and sale, open from Oct. 16 to Nov. 28.  Exhibiting sculptors and the public are invited to the opening reception on Friday, Oct. 16 from 5–7 p.m.  Winning artists receive cash awards totaling $2,000.  Winners will be selected prior to the show’s opening.

A call to artists in the Southeast was made in June 2015 resulting in 45 submissions of artwork from artists in western and central North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.  Accepted pieces will be installed in the lobby, Gallery I and selected locations on the outdoor campus.

Sculpture entries are juried by Harry McDaniel of Asheville.  McDaniel was born in Wichita, Kansas and grew up in Missouri, New Jersey and North Carolina. McDaniel works in a varied media including wood and metal, creating a broad range of work, from wall hung pieces to monumental mobiles.  All demonstrate the grace and beauty of form in motion. He has accepted commissions for both interior and exterior sculptures and has accumulated an impressive number of honors and awards at exhibits all over the east coast.
