After freezing for four years at Exeter, he came back to his beloved South, living in Greensboro, Burlington, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and finally in Tryon. He worked in textile marketing at Burlington Industries, Universal Textured Yarns, with the bulk of his career as director of marketing with Glen Raven Mills, where he commuted weekly to New York City for many years.

After retiring from Glen Raven, he worked with his wife Martha in their knitting and needlepoint shop, “Stitches.” He volunteered with several local groups, including being a Big Brother, mentoring boys who needed a male role model.

Ed loved life and those of us in it. He was spirited, fun, kind, generous and always true to his word. He was epitome of a “southern gentleman.”

A graveside service will be held Oct. 3, 2015, at 3 p.m., Forest Lawn Cemetery, Greensboro, N.C.
