To the editor:

On Friday, Sept. 18, Coopers Gap Baptist Church had the pleasure of providing the pre-game meal for the Polk County High School varsity football team.

The players and coaches came into the Fellowship Hall in a very orderly manner. The young men followed the coaches’ instructions as how to proceed through the chow line without any sign of disorder.

They patiently sat through two sessions, one by the pastor of Coopers Gap and the other by their chaplain on how to live and be successful at whatever they do including football. It must have worked along with the meal, for they won their game that night 36 to 14.

The point of this is they were exemplary of what I see in every student that I come in contact with from the Polk County School System. From my viewpoint, Polk County students will become great leaders in the future and will lead this country in the right direction.

I give the administration, teachers and all others connected to Polk County’s School System credit!
