Friendship Council meeting at Roseland Center

Published 12:10 pm Tuesday, September 8, 2015

The Thermal Belt Friendship Council will resume its schedule of monthly meetings beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 6 p.m. at Roseland Center. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month September through May, and are at Roseland center at 6 p.m. unless otherwise announced.

The Friendship Council is a loosely structured group dedicated to building community through inclusivity. Activities include monthly Saturday luncheons at local restaurants, Tryon’s annual celebration in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday caroling at White Oak, and the annual community Friendship Picnic held at Harmon Field the first Saturday in July.

In 2015, we have also provided workshops in diversity, how to be an ally against racism, and deepening the conversation about racism. We also presented the Peace, Love and Understanding event at Rogers Park in support and solidarity with those affected by the tragic murders at Emmanuel A.M.E. Church in Charleston, S.C.
