“It’s going to be close, you have to keep playing consistently fast,” Stewart said. “I only took a one hour break last year and that was to eat breakfast, take a shower and change clothes.”

After accomplishing last year’s feat, Bright’s Creek was able to donate $7,500 to the Folds of Honor foundation, a success that has prompted Stewart to raise the bar.

Bright’s Creek has expanded their efforts from the 24-hour Golf-A-Thon to the Inaugural Patriot Golf Day Charity Event. Our goal for the new golf tournament is to have 15 corporate sponsors and 100 golfers raise $50,000 for the Folds of Honor Foundation. There will be multiple prizes and awards for the players in addition to a complimentary pig pickin’ lunch.

Corporations who choose platinum and gold sponsorships for the Patriot Golf Day Charity Event are guaranteed that 100 percent of their donation will go to Folds of Honor plus they will receive complimentary corporate memberships at Bright’s Creek and complimentary foursome for the tournament.

All golfers are welcome to the tournament. The cost of play is $400 for a foursome and 80 percent of the proceeds, tax deductible, will go to Folds of Honor.

The Folds of Honor Foundation was founded in 2007 with a mission to provide educational scholarships to the families of soldiers who were wounded or killed in battle. In an effort to advance that mission, the Foundation utilized its partnerships with the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) and the United States Golfing Association to create Patriot Golf Day. These initiatives help support private education tuition, tutoring and educational summer camps for children K-12, as well as higher education tuition assistance for spouses and children. Since its founding in 2007, the organization is proud to have awarded over 7,500 scholarships, including over 2,000 in 2014 alone. The initiative calls on professional golfers to help raise funds that will award scholarships to families that are seeking post-secondary education. In the last year alone, the PGA and United States Golfing Association have raised over $5 million in scholarship money.
