Last “Saturday Night Lights” event of summer at TIEC

Summer isn’t quite over at Tryon International Equestrian Center and the horse park will close out the season with an encore $127,000 Grand Prix competition on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 6 – 10 p.m.

“Saturday Night Lights” activities include free carousel rides, face painting and airbrush tattoos. The popular jazz band Melodious Culture will keep the party going with jazz fusion music, rock ‘n roll, country and Top 40 hits. Admission to TIEC and parking are free and open to the public.

Bring your appetite and enjoy TIEC’s eclectic selection of dining options. Blue Ginger Sushi is back open for the week offering the freshest menu of rolls, sashimi and Asian salads.

Or, choose between Roger’s Diner, a 50s-inspired diner serving up burgers, shakes, salads, breakfast all day and more, or Legends Grille delivering a first-class dining experience and gourmet menu items prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Both Roger’s Diner and Legends Grille are open year round. Visit one of the many other onsite restaurants offering summer treats, coffee, or a vendor cart selling carnival favorites like fresh lemonade, popcorn, cotton candy and ice cream.

The evening culminates with the $127,000 Grand Prix competition held at 8 p.m. in the George Morris International Arena. The week’s largest show jumping competition is held under international guidelines of the Federation Equestre International (FEI), the sport’s international governing body.
