From vintage models to hot rods and modern rides, Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) is hosting a classic car show competition on Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. as part of its ongoing “Saturday Night Lights” event series. For a $15 fee, the public can enter their automobiles for a chance at cash prizes in several categories. The competition is open to all makes and models and vehicles need to be registered online by Friday, July 17 at 8 p.m. Cars need to be parked onsite at TIEC between 3 and 5 p.m. For complete competition details, visit www.tryon.com.

In addition to perusing the collection of classic cars, spectators can enjoy TIEC’s “Saturday Night Lights” entertainment featuring aerial artists, thematic stilt walkers, juggling, magic and perhaps even a fire ninja. Kids can also enjoy free rides on a hand-painted Venetian carousel as well as face painting and airbrush tattoos. Local five-piece band Project X will be onsite playing all the crowd’s favorite cover songs from Journey and ZZ Top to Pat Benatar and Collective Soul.

Admission to TIEC and parking are free and open to the public.

The evening culminates with the $127,000 Grand Prix CSI3* to be held in the George Morris Arena. The week’s largest show jumping competition is held under international guidelines of the Federation Equestre International (FEI), the sport’s international governing body.

These activities, combined with TIEC’s bounty of onsite dining and shopping options, make TIEC an ideal place to spend time with friends and family. In addition to Roger’s Diner and the Legends Grille, which are open year round to the public, patrons can choose from vendors selling sushi, summer treats, coffee, wood-fired pizza, lemonade, ice cream and a variety of carnival snacks.
