Tryon donates last $500 to TeDX

Tryon Town Council decided last month to donate the last $500 needed for fundraising to TeDX. Council approved the donation during its June 16 meeting.

Tryon to meet again in August

Tryon Town Council announced during its June meeting that the town does not meet in the month of July. Tryon normally takes the month of July off following the adoption of its annual budget in June. Council will meet again on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Tryon thanks staff for Blue Ridge Barbecue Festival work

Tryon Town Council and manager Joey Davis thanked Tryon’s staff for its work during the Blue Ridge Barbecue and Music Festival held in June. Davis said there was a little rain both days and a lot of medical calls for heat but overall everyone seemed to have a good time. During Tryon’s council meeting, total numbers of how many attended the festival were not yet known, according to Davis.

Adult soccer league begins July 10

Area adults interested in playing soccer can be involved in a pickup league at Harmon Field beginning on July 10. The Polk County Recreation Department announced the league this week saying games will be at 6 p.m. on Friday evenings at Harmon Field.
