The Deluge

The Deluge

The 16th season of Tryon’s most popular summer event – Summer Tracks – continues on Friday, June 19 with The Deluge. In a salute to the band’s name and the Green River, show sponsors, Green River Adventures and The Gorge, are designating this night as “squirt gun night”—so audience members should dress accordingly. The show and the fun begin at 7 p.m. at Rogers Park.

A whirling dervish of a band, The Deluge blends the sounds of roots rock, blues, funk and soul. In addition to their inspired original tunes, The Deluge adds their own spin to a wide range of soulful classics, from the southern soul of Darrell Scott to Bill Whithers’ standards.

Formed in 2010, this musically diverse group features Brandon Knox on vocals/harmonica, Christopher Lord on guitar/keys/vocals, George Westberry on bass/vocals, Tommy Smith on keys and Kelly Linville on drums.

The band has shared the stage with top artists in music, including Delbert McClinton, Blues Traveler, Edwin McCain, Sam Bush, George Porter Jr. and Artimus Pyle. Their debut record “Cryin’ on the Vine” features “Strange World” which won best R&B song of 2010 from the international John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Their second release, “Elephant Graveyard,” features the talents of Kofi Burbridge (Tedeschi/Trucks Band) and showcases the group’s vast musical range.

This show is the second of six Summer Tracks concerts scheduled for this season. Each summer, this well produced series attracts more than 2,000 people to Tryon’s Rogers Park, drawing visitors from all over Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina.

As with all Summer Tracks concerts, the show is free, though a voluntary donation at the gate is encouraged. Audience donations along with the generous sponsorships of local businesses and individuals make these shows possible. Manna Cabana’s delicious fresh food, O’Duggan’s ice cream, water and soft drinks will be for sale.

Summer Tracks is produced by the Town of Tryon in affiliation with Peter Eisenbrown of Blockparty Productions. For more information about Summer Tracks and the performers visit www.summertracks.com.
