Emily Rose Brantley Scoggins, Broadway Extension, Tryon, N.C. died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, S.C.
Born in Wake County, N.C. she was the daughter of the late Robert Early and Sally V. Baker Brantley and was the widow of R. Carroll Scoggins who died in 2011.
Emily Rose was a graduate of Tryon High School and Mars Hill University. She was employed over the years as a Bookkeeper. Emily Rose was a member of the Community Chorus for many years, and was a member of the Tryon Fire Department Ladies Auxillary for numerous years and served as a Past President of the North Carolina State Fireman’s Ladies Auxillary. She was a member of the Tryon First Baptist Church and sang in the choir for numerous years.
Surviving are: two sons, Bob Scoggins of Tryon, N.C. and Tim Scoggins (Sondra) of Campobello, S.C.; a daughter, Pam S. McFalls of Columbus, N.C. Also surviving is her sister, Marguerite Howell of Raleigh, N.C., and five grandchildren, Ashley S. Gilbert (Evan) and Brooke Scoggins, Nathan and Hayden Scoggins, and Emily McFalls and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Durham, who died in 1994.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23 at 11 a.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Dr. Jeff Harris and nephew, Phil Scoggins, officiating.
Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, N.C.
Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:45 a.m. just prior to the service Saturday in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
