St. Luke’s Hospital wants you to “Spring into Summer” and take advantage of the free health and information Fair for Kids and Families

Mark your calendar to “Spring into Summer!” – a day full of events to get you and your family moving towards fun and good health. The free health and information fair will be Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. – noon, at Stearns Park in Columbus, N.C. (Rain date will be Saturday, June 6.)

Sponsored by St. Luke’s Hospital, Active Routes to School, Carolina Chiropractic Plus, PF3, Polk County, Cooperative Extension and Polk County Recreation Department, make plans to attend the free community health fair. Find out what services are available in our community, gather great information, and take advantage of free health screenings.

To date, the agencies participating include: Polk County Public Library, Foothills Humane Society, Smoky Mountain LME/MCO, TD Bank, Steps to HOPE, Costco, Adawehi, Columbus Lions, Season’s of Life, White Oak of Tryon, Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, Partnership for Children of the Foothills, Foothills Health Network, WCCA Columbus Children Center, Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Hands of Hope for Life, Collins Dental Clinic, Polk County 4-H Club, Foothills Gymnastics Academy, Family Footcare and Health Supplies, Be A Voice 4 Kids, Isagenix Health, Wellness & Fitness, Family Preservation Services and Polk County EMS.

Agencies and services are invited to participate for no charge other than offering a healthy activity for kids by calling 894-0972.

This free health and information fair will help you will gain valuable information for yourself and your family and have a better understanding of what healthcare and other services are available in our community. For more information call 894-0972.

Other activities planned for “Spring into Summer” include:

Eat Healthy, 8 a.m.-noon
Browse the Farmers Market for fresh local food. Healthy cooking demonstrations will be provided by Polk County Extension Services.

Learn About Health, 9 a.m. – noon
St. Luke’s Hospital and other providers are hosting a community health and information fair (at Stearns Park in Columbus). Free health screenings and fun activities for kids are planned.

Bike Rodeo, 9-11 a.m.
Bring your bike and participate in the Bike Rodeo (a bicycle safety clinic).

Gymnastics, 10 a.m.
Foothills Gymnastics Academy will put on a show

BMX Bike Show, 11 a.m. – noon
Watch a BMX Bike Show. The Freestyle Connection will do tricks and stunts down the main street of Columbus.

Free Swim, 2-4 p.m.
Polk County Recreation Department will host an open house with free swimming and refreshments while they last at Gibson Park pool.
