Published 11:25 am Tuesday, May 12, 2015

I am pleased to announce the second meeting of The Blue Ridge Railroad Association at the Landrum, S.C. depot. The purpose of the association is to promote further knowledge of the rail transportation industry, both from a historical perspective as well as from latest developments pertinent to the local region.

The second meeting will be held on Thursday, May 14 at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Mr. Jim Sheppard. Jim is a long-time and well-known railroad photographer and historian. His presentation will be on the Greenville and Northern Railway and the current status of the line, which is now the Swamp Rabbit trail. His presentation will be complete with photographs and other interesting overheads.

Mr. Michael Saverino, a long time rail fan and BRRA board member, will also provide video presentations on the “Southern Loops” and Saluda Grade including videos of current Norfolk Southern Railroad operations and past steam excursions.
