Wondering what to wear while riding the trails or riding the lawn tractor, mucking your stall or mulching your flowerbeds? Plan to attend the Coveralls to Couture Fashion Show and Tea, to benefit Polk Equine Emergency Rescue (PEER) on Saturday, May 16, from 3-5 p.m. Emceed by Pam Stone, and held at Spiegel Farms, the show will present a full range of fashion choices — from coveralls to couture — for country and equestrian living. Spiegel Farms is located at 996 E. Frontage Rd., Campobello.

The event will feature models of all ages wearing outfits provided by The Farm House and Central Tractor. We will also have models wearing classic western, classic Paso Fino and contemporary formal dressage clothing.

As a special treat we will also show the traditional 18th century Casaca, which was worn by Portuguese bullfighters when doing rejoneo (bullfighting on horseback) and the Spanish traje corto, worn by Spanish dignitaries and the el Rosio, which was a religious pilgrimage in the south of Spain that is still held today.

Proceeds from this event will support PEER’s mission of providing large animal emergency medical rescue services in Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina. PEER, a 501(c)(3) organization, does not charge for rescues, relying on donations, grants and fundraising events to keep the ambulance on the road.

Tickets are available for purchase at Mary & Morris and Lavender Bistro in Tryon, Open Road Coffee and Purrrfect Bark in Columbus, and Sissy’s Boutique and Stone Soup in Landrum, or at the door.
