Two Landrum students sign letters of commitment

On Friday, May 1, Alison Jouan signed a letter of commitment with Converse College to complete at the intercollegiate level in track and field. Converse College is a liberal arts women’s college in Spartanburg. She will major in early childhood education.

While at Landrum High School, Alison competed in high jump, pole vault, 100 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles in track and field.  She also played basketball and ran cross-country for the Cardinals. She won the region championship for pole vault for the last two years. She will represent Landrum as a pole vaulter in the Upper State Championships this Saturday and, if successful, compete in the State Championships the following Saturday.

While at Landrum, Alison participated in AmeriCorps and served as a teacher cadet. She is the daughter of Stephane and Sonya Jouan.

Also on May 1, Caleb Bruce signed a letter of commitment to attend Limestone College where he will compete at the intercollegiate level in baseball. Limestone College is a private four-year, coeducational liberal arts college located in Gaffney, S.C.

While at Landrum, Caleb started in 84 consecutive games, batting .325 overall. He played shortstop for five years. In addition to being an All-State Diamond Prospect in baseball in 2014, he earned all-region and all-academic honors for 2014 and 2015.

While at Landrum, Caleb also played football and basketball, and also played American Legion baseball for Inman Post 45.

Caleb is the son of Barry and Rita Bruce.
