In some places the hills are alive with the sound of music; In our area the hills have been alive with the sounds of horses. With a horse parade, horse window decoration contest, horse races, horse themed parties and art shows, and even dogs dressed up for the occasion with fur leggings  – it’s been a regular horse party around here!

Seriously, though, kudos go to Patty Otto for taking the lead on bringing the Budweiser Clydesdales to Landrum, and to area business leaders and City of Landrum employees for pitching in and making it a day to remember. It’s not every day you get the chance to see the Budweiser Clydesdales and certainly not something you expect to see in a town the size of Landrum. People came out in droves and lined the streets Wednesday afternoon to get a look at the majestic Budweiser Clydesdales as they made their way down the street and back.

The parade was a smashing success and a splendid way to kick off the Week of the Horse in our area.

With Tryon Riding & Hunt Club’s 2015 Steeplechase set to kick-off Saturday morning, the Week of the Horse promises to be a fun time for all.  Grab your hat, sunblock and smile and I’ll see you at the track.

Thank you for reading.
