Columbus Police Department arrests Belmont men for trafficking heroin, Recovers stolen firearm

On Thursday, April 23 at approximately 10:35 p.m., the Columbus Police Department arrested Brian Guy Farmer, 24, of Belmont, N.C. following a traffic stop.

During the course of the arrest, over 14 grams of heroin were located in Farmer’s vehicle, along with methamphetamine and assorted paraphernalia.  Additionally, a Taurus handgun which was stolen on April 8, 2015 in Gastonia, N.C. was recovered.

Farmer was charged with two counts of felony trafficking in heroin, felony conspiracy to traffic in heroin, felony possession with intent to sell or deliver heroin, felony conspiracy to sell or deliver heroin, felony possession of a stolen firearm, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed gun, felony maintain a vehicle for controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving and driving while impaired.

A passenger in the vehicle, James Franklin Sisler III, 22, of Belmont, N.C., was also arrested and charged with felony possession of heroin and felony conspiracy to deliver heroin.

Farmer, a documented gang member who has an extensive criminal history, was held at the Polk County Jail under a $200,000 secured bond.  His first court appearance was Monday, April 27.
