Celia was born in Sweden, and has earned her Master of Arts at Malmo, a Master Soloist Diploma with highest honors at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen. In 1982 Celia was chosen to do a master course with Andrés Segovia at “Concervatoire de Musique de Geneve,” who correctly predicted that she would have a distinguished international career.

In 1984, Linde arrived in New York to study with the renowned Brazilian guitarist Carlos Barbosa-Lima at the Manhattan School of Music, specializing in South American music. Carlos Barbosa-Lima said of Celia: “Celia Linde belongs to the elite of international guitarists and (has) a natural talent for the Latin American music tradition.”

In 1992 Celia Linde was honored to be chosen to play a solo performance at the Olympics in Barcelona for heads of state. In 1998 she entered the international concert circuit with a sold out show at Carnegie Hall, performing the premier of American Composer Bobby Scott’s “Vera Cruz Incident.” Scott is best known for the title theme for the play “A Taste of Honey.”

Linde tours frequently throughout Europe, the U.S., Canada, Finland, Scandinavia, Russia, and Turkey. In addition, Celia regularly collaborates with other musicians, including Carlos Barbosa-Lima, opera singer Gitta Maria Sjöberg and violinist Anton Kontra. She is also noted for her interpretations of contemporary music and has commissioned a number of works for solo guitar and guitar with violin.

Admission is free and open to the public. The program will move indoors in the event of rain. Please leave dogs and coolers at home. Donations are gratefully accepted at the door. For more information, please visit www.tryonarts.org or call 828-859-8322.
