Margie Gibson Williams

It is with a sad heart that the family of Margie Gibson Williams, 86, announces the “home going” of their beautiful mother, Mema, and friend.

Margie was born, raised, and spent all of her life in Polk County, N.C. She was an active member of Silver Creek Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School.

Daughter of John and Hannah Williams, she was preceded in death by Bryson Gibson – husband and father of their four children – then by her loving husband, Yates Williams, and a daughter, Doris Gibbs.

She leaves behind three surviving children: Jay Gibson (Dianne), Sue Carroll (Bill), and Jean Edwards (Bob); nine grandchildren: Lewie, Scott, Chris, Brandon, Shelly, Kelby, Blythe, Grayson, and Hannah; 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to the staff and caregivers at Autumn Care of Saluda and Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015 in Silver Creek Baptist Church, Mill Spring, N.C., with Rev. Stephen McLane, Dr. Chris Osborn, and Rev. Hubert Street officiating.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
