LMS game ends 2-10 in Lockhart’s favor

Our Landrum Middle Schools Cardinals forgot to bring their bats and gloves to Lockhart as we made timely errors on offense and defense Thursday afternoon.

It was a close and reachable game going into the fourth inning trailing 1 to 5. Then we scored one in the top of the fourth, cutting their lead to 2 to 5, then they sent three runs across in their half of the fourth. We loaded the bases in our fifth inning but couldn’t get any of those Red Birds out of the tree.

Then they added two more runs in the fifth making the final score 2-10 in Lockhart’s favor. Brett Jackson pitched a fine game, but just had a very hard time figuring out the strike zone.

Cree Waters continued his hitting streak leading his team with two hits. Chandler Carroll also had two hits including a ripping Daily Double. Michael Clark and Brett Jackson had one hit each. Cree Waters and Chandler Carroll scored our only runs.

We stranded 11 Cardinals on the bases, made some crucial base running mistakes and we let some balls go between our legs. The lesson we learn is that we can’t make a bunch of mistakes and expect to beat a good team.

After a much needed Spring Break the Cardinals return to action Monday, April 13 at home to face one of our District One foes, Mabry, at 5 p.m. on Steve Coley Field.

Hope to see you at the game!
