Rosemary Settle Mills

It is with great sadness that we announce the death, at age 89, of our mother, Rosemary Settle Mills, who died peacefully March 30, at Autumn Care of Saluda.

 

Rosemary was the daughter of Keever Grady Settle and Rose Turner Settle of Gowensville, S.C. She married Vernice Lee Mills on May 5, 1948. They had four children, Diane McClellan of Columbus, Sharon Spurlin of Columbus, Gerald (Melinda) Mills of Charlotte and Robin (Gregg) Bridges of Spartanburg; three grandchildren, Nicole (Tim) Pittman of Campobello, Casey Spurlin of Columbus and Jeremy (Gabby) Spurlin of Columbus; and two great grandchildren, Tyler and Nathan Pittman of Campobello.

Surviving are her four children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and sister, Arvilla Smith of Tryon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernice Lee Mills, and sisters Aurelia Horn and Ruth Stockton of Tryon.

 

An active member of Beulah Baptist Church until her health failed, Rosemary loved to cook, sew, read and garden. She used these attributes to provide a loving and comfortable home to her family.

 

As requested a private funeral and burial was held. The family wishes to thank all who cared for her during her illness.
