John Blayne McMurray

John Blayne McMurray, 89, husband of Raye Hopper McMurray, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015.

Born in Polk County, N.C., he was the son of the late Hoyt B. and Vera Tanner McMurray.

Mr. McMurray retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters, Donice Winslow and Penny Bostain of Greenville and Sharon Capps and husband, Michael of Polk County, N.C.; two sisters, Beulah Setser of Lake Junaluska, N.C. and Ann McMurray of Albany, Ga.; a brother, Dr. Birch McMurray of Morganton, N.C.; four grandchildren, Justin Winslow of Brooklyn, N.Y., Philip Winslow of Columbus, Ohio, Patrick Winslow of Atlanta, Ga. and Carrie Brown Gilliland of Powderly, Texas; and nine great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 4-6 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, downtown Greenville, S.C. The funeral service will be held Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 2 p.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
