Terry Wetton
Wetton grew up in London and, as a teenager during the 60s, was part of the British music scene. As lead vocalist for the successful rock band Joker he played at all the major London venues, including The Marquee, The Music Machine, The Rock Garden and Ronnie Scott’s. He moved to the United States in 1982 and continued performing and producing music in Southern California where he co-produced the Grammy nominated debut CD for jazz artist Tony Guerrero.
Since moving to North Carolina in 2003 he continues to perform concerts at listening rooms in the Western North Carolina area, entertaining audiences with original songs that reflect his unique style and perspective. At his solo shows he supports his distinctive vocals with finger picked acoustic guitar and piano.
He released his successful, original CD “This Time It’s Personal” in 2011 and many of the songs have become audience favorites, including “It Is What It Is” and “Learning To Fly.” The follow up CD, the biographical “Sometimes I Miss England,” was released in May this year and has proved to have universal appeal. His latest release “Simply Love ..,” released in January 2015 showcases Wetton’s inspirational songs about the various incarnations of love.
Working from his home recording studio, he has produced commercially available CD projects for many local artists including Carrie Morrison, Garry Segal, The Lonesome Road Band, and Lynne Goldsmith. His weekly radio show on WTZQ features local music and promotes the work of singer-songwriters in the area. He is the host of a monthly radio sponsored live show titled “Singer-Songwriter Showcase” at a local venue in Hendersonville.
Chef Irmy will be serving a thick stew of shrimp, sausage, peppers and onions served on top of creamy cheese grits with a garden salad, bread, dessert, tea and coffee. A beer and wine cash bar will also be available.
Saluda Winterfest is sponsored by the Saluda Downtown Foundation and proceeds will go toward funding projects to benefit downtown. Cresting at the top of the steepest railway grade, ribboned by the deep valley of the Green River Gorge, the historic town of Saluda, N.C. calms the restless, inspires the creative, and incites the adventurist.
