Farmer Jason back at Super Saturday
Published 8:26 pm Friday, March 13, 2015
At the 37th annual Super Saturday on March 21, an old friend will return to the Congregational Church at 9:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.: Farmer Jason, the character created by rock music legend Jason Ringenberg to educate children about farm life and the wonders of nature, based on his own farming background and love of the great outdoors.
Winner of an Emmy Award in 2009 and nomination in 2010 for his Farmer Jason recordings, he has performed several thousand concerts in venues ranging from rural fairs on the Alaskan tundra to posh European performance halls. His highly acclaimed show involves sing-alongs, dancing, and lively talk about nature appreciation, ecology and farm animals.
Performing solo with just his acoustic guitar, Farmer Jason draws his musical influences from folk, country and rock ‘n’ roll, with a dash of punk rock to liven up the tempo. While aimed at children ages 2 to 8, everyone is invited to get involved, and they do!
The Super Saturday box office is open in the Tryon Fine Arts Center lobby Wednesday-Friday March 11-13 and 18-20 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information, go to
