The Landrum Middle School Cardinals baseball team opened up their regular season with a victory over the visiting Campobello Gramling Wildcats. Brett Jackson led the Cardinals with two hits, followed by Adam Powell, Cree Waters, Michael Clark, Cooper Shealey, Isaiah Adderholdt and Chris Easler with one hit each.

Jackson and Clark scored two runs each. Cree Waters, Zander Steele, Cooper Shealey, Blake Mace and Chris Easler scored one run each.

Adam Powell picked up the win with Adderholdt and Waters pitching well in relief with all three combining to strikeout eight Wildcat batters.

The Cardinals went into the top of the fifth inning with a 9-4 lead, holding on for big a 9-8 win. The next game is on Monday, March 16 at Mabry with a 5 p.m. start.
