In the event of bad weather, maintain at least a half of tank of fuel at all times. Allow all windows to clear from ice or snow before driving. In the event you have to pull off side of road, use flashers. Charge cell phone and have ready if needed. Give yourself extra time when traveling. Let someone know your route and destination of travel. Try to use main roads to travel as they are normally maintained.

If traveling have travel kit on hand to include the following: flashlight, blanket, water, food, first aid kit, extra clothing (including cap, gloves, and jackets) shovel, sand or cat litter, and an ice scraper.

If you do not have to travel, stay at home.
