Three SC men arrested for larceny ring

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested three men from South Carolina who allegedly broke into and stole items from Tryon Store House storage unit and a motorcycle from a Green Creek storage unit.

James Evertt Pierce, 43, of Blue Ridge Rd., Campobello, S.C. was arrested and charged with four counts of breaking and entering, three counts of larceny after breaking and entering, three counts of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering, larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen goods, according to sheriff reports.

Lee Matthew Cowan, 29, of S. Bomar Avenue, Landrum, was arrested and charged with three counts of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny after breaking and entering, three counts of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering, larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen goods, according to sheriff reports.

Dustin Phillip Eubanks, 33, of Pen Del Rd., Inman, S.C. was arrested and charged with three count of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny after breaking and entering, three counts of conspiracy to commit breaking and entering, larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen goods, according to sheriff reports.

The sheriff’s office received reports of break-ins at the Green Creek storage unit and several units of the Tryon Store House.

The investigation included the discovery that one storage unit in Tryon was housing a motorcycle that resembled a motorcycle stolen from the Green Creek storage unit, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office after the investigation led to Inman, S.C., where it was discovered the stolen motorcycle and other stolen parts had been taken from the Green Creek storage unit to Inman.

Pierce was arrested for possession of the stolen motorcycle, according to the sheriff’s office.

Polk County detectives then arrested Eubanks and Cowan for the breaking and entering and larceny of the motorcycle after further evidence determined they were responsible for the breaking and entering and larceny of several storage units in Tryon.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office recovered almost all of the stolen property from the storage units. Polk County was assisted in the recovery of the stolen items and arrests from the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and the Campobello and Landrum police departments.

Pierce was still in custody at the Polk County Detention Facility as of Monday, Feb. 2 under a $75,000 secured bond. He is being represented by a court appointed attorney with his next court date scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 4, according to the sheriff’s office.

Cowan was still being held in Polk County as of Monday under an $80,000 secured bond and was scheduled for court on Monday to determine his legal representation, according to the sheriff’s office.

Eubanks is out on bond and is being represented by a court appointed attorney with his next court date scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 4, according to the sheriff’s office.
