On Nov. 9, members of the congregation of Tryon UMC gathered outside after church to release doves in honor of veterans who are related to church members. Marie Vehorn stood with her arms around her grandchildren, Annie Nichols,7, and Joe Nichols, 11, as they prepared to let a dove fly in memory of Vehorn’s grandson LTj.g. Justin Nichols, USN. Pastor Phillip Hurst released a dove in honor of two family friends, A1C Daniel Clark, USAF and Spec4 John Ross Seagroves, USA.
