Jingling for a good cause

The Jingle Bell Jog is a fun run aimed at stamping out hunger in our school-age children.
This year the event will be on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 9 a.m., beginning and ending at The Mailroom, 156 N. Trade Ave. in Landrum.
The Tryon Running Club started this event as a way to get together for a run before the holiday craziness began and decided to help some kids along the way. For the first three years our collections went directly to the local schools for their backpack programs. After working with Carol Newton through the Tryon Half Marathon, we have decided to give our collection to Thermal Belt Outreach.
The Jingle Bell Jog is a two-mile and a four-mile fun run. Weíre hoping more people will come out this year, and we have added Zumba and a Christmas-themed obstacle course sponsored by Element Strength and Fitness of Landrum.
Many people dress up in holiday themes. Our only entry fee is non-perishable food items, and we hold a random drawing from the signed waivers for prizes. Bundle up, grab your Jingle Bells and join us!
