Sachse named managing editor of the Tryon Daily Bulletin

The duties of managing editor at any newspaper, including this one, are best described as putting together a large puzzle on top of a spinning record turntable. Each day presents a new and different puzzle that must be assembled by deadline. I date myself with the turntable reference, but I believe it illustrates the complexity and responsibility of the job.

With Tuesday through Saturday editions, a website, monthly editions of Life in Our Foothills magazine, our visitor’s guide, and special sections throughout the year, the editor is pivotal to the smooth functioning and high standards of our news gathering and reporting operations.

With that in mind, I have asked Claire Sachse, who has been a reporter with us since the summer, to assume the managing editor position. Many of you have had a chance to meet her as she has covered business, education, city and county government, and general human interest stories in Polk County and Landrum. You may also know her as a 17-year resident of Polk County, or through professional contacts in the public relations and communications fields.
