The Friends of the Landrum Library will hold their Annual Membership Meeting Sunday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. in the Petty Room of the Landrum Library. The meeting is for all the community to enjoy. The highlight of the afternoon will be a program, “Walnut Grove: 250 Years of Local History”, presented by Tom Moore Craig

Mr. Craig is the great, great, great grandson of the Moore family who built Walnut Grove Plantation near Moore S.C. The Moore family was the first family to settle permanently in the Spartanburg area. His parents generously donated the Plantation to the Spartanburg County Historical Association for restoration in 1962.

After Graduating from Spartanburg High, Craig went on to Davison College and later completed a PhD in educational administration at the University of South Carolina. As an educator he served Spartanburg County as a teacher, principal and guidance counselor. He was also been member of the South Carolina House of Representatives. Mr. Craig is presently on the Board of Trustees of the Upcountry History Museum in Greenville and the Executive Council of the South Carolinian Library.
