Big Brothers Big Sisters invites the public to join something Big. On Nov. 1, bowlers will gather to celebrate their fundraising success at Autumn Lanes in Forest City. Bowl for Kids’ Sake is the most significant annual fundraiser for the organization.

To participate, team members collect pledges in support of BBBS.  A discount rate for student bowlers encourages young people to get involved for this worthy cause. In return they are rewarded with two hours of fun. Bowlers get two free games, shoes included, along with a “superhero” t-shirt, pizza and drinks, plus the chance to win great door prizes that are generously donated by area businesses. Additionally, there are prizes for the best “Super Hero” costume, so plan your team’s theme.

In addition to collecting pledges directly from friends, family and associates, bowlers can set up their own page and begin soliciting pledges for a team via the secure online site:  www.firstgiving.com/bbbswnc/bowl-for-kids-sake-polk-county.  For those who can’t bowl and would like to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters, the above online link makes it simple to set up a First Giving fundraising page as a “virtual bowler.”

CooperRiis is serving as Strike Sponsor for Bowl for Kids’ Sake, along with other main sponsors: Terry Ackerman, Lichty Guitars, Morning Glory Farm, Bailey Nager, and Roger & Jennifer Smith, in addition to Team and Lane sponsors.

Team and Lane sponsorships are still available, allowing individuals and area businesses to partner with the local branch of the nation’s most successful and renowned youth mentoring program. Team sponsors can bring their own team of family, friends or employees, or can designate a sponsorship for Bigs and Littles to have the opportunity to bowl.

Big Brothers Big Sisters, serving Polk County and Landrum, works to help children facing adversity achieve outcomes leading to lifelong success. Mentors help broaden children’s perspectives and help them learn how to make good choices. The dramatic results – improved abilities, attitudes, social skills and self-confidence – help position youth to avoid risky behaviors and instill in them a desire to succeed.

Support for Bowl for Kids’ Sake ensures that more Bigs and Littles can be paired up, more friendships can begin, and improved outlooks on life can be started. Join Big Brothers Big Sisters in making this happen.

Let’s get this ball rolling. Contact BBBS at 828-859-9230 or polk@bbbswnc.org.
