1010 Claxton Elem teachersBowl for Kids’ Sake is the most significant annual fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters. The local organization is hoping to make this another successful event to support their enriching mentoring programs for children in Polk County and Landrum.

The event will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 1 at Autumn Lanes in Forest City. The theme this year is “Super Heroes” so plan ahead to come as your favorite superhero for the costume competition.

Team packets have arrived. Big Brothers Big Sisters will be happy to send a team packet to any group or individual interested in participating. Then team captains should contact BBBS as soon as possible to reserve a lane.

Teams of 3-5 members contribute a minimum pledge per team member, with a special reduced rate for students. In addition to collecting pledges directly from friends, family and associates, bowlers can set up their own page and begin soliciting pledges for a team via the secure online site:  https://www.firstgiving.com/bbbswnc/bowl-for-kids-sake-polk-county.

If you can’t bowl and would like to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters, you can follow the above online link and set up your own First Giving fundraising page as a “virtual bowler”.

With the challenges that families currently face, it’s more important than ever to support efforts to help our youth grow into responsible adults.

Please spread the word and help generate greater success for Bowl for Kids’ Sake by encouraging any individual, business owner, church, school, club or organization that may like to bowl, or serve as a sponsor, to participate.  For more info or to reserve a lane, contact BBBS at (828) 859-9230 or polk@bbbswnc.org
