What’s great about Columbus?

The Town of Columbus is trying to plan for its future. In 2013 the town was designated as a HandMade In America Small Town. This acknowledgement for Columbus was beneficial because it gives the town additional opportunities to participate in regional programs. This designation also enables the town to receive technical support that otherwise would not be available.
A small group of dedicated individuals known as the Discover Columbus team have working with HandMade in American for a little over a year. This week and next, the team is sponsoring three public meetings for area residents to share what they like about Columbus. The Discover Columbus team’s objective is to determine what is important to protect in and around Columbus that makes the town a special place to work and live.
The first public get together is Thursday, Sept. 4 from 5-8 p.m. at Columbus Town Hall on Walker Street. For folks who come and share their ideas, a hotdog cookout will be provided. Participants are not expected to stay the entire time. Just come, tell the team what is important, eat supper and head home.
If you cannot make Thursday’s meeting there are two other opportunities to share. On Saturday, Sept. 6 from 12:30-3:30 p.m. (also with a cookout) and Tuesday, Sept. 9 from 2-5 p.m., volunteers and team members will be on hand to take your ideas.
Help shape the future of Columbus.
