Prevent child abuse in Polk County

A Darkness to Light Stewards of Children training will happen from 4 – 6 pm on Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Polk County Library Community Room in Columbus.
Those who attend will become a Steward of Children, trained to prevent and respond appropriately to child sexual abuse in the community.
Abuse is the number one health concern for children in this country. It affects at least one of every 10 children. It is the second most expensive crime in the country, second only to murder in what it costs in short-term and long-term economic expenses. (www.d2l.org)
“It’s my goal to make child abuse extinct, much as polio and slavery are extinct,” said Kiesa Kay, Darkness to Light facilitator. “When caring people work together for the good of all, good things happen. Together, we can keep kids safe from harm.”
