On November 11, 2014, the Patriots Salute to Veterans Association will conduct a Veterans Day parade in Columbus, N.C. beginning at 10 a.m.
The parade will be in recognition of the men and women who have honorably served in the Armed Forces of our nation. This will be the second Veterans Day parade conducted in Polk County.

Although November might seem to be quite a ways in the future, parade officials say it is not too early for individuals or their organizations to begin planning to participate in this patriotic, community event.
There are only two requirements for participation: entrants must be patriotic and they must be dignified. “Area businesses, churches, non-profits, service clubs, schools and local government offices are particularly encouraged to participate in the parade”, said Michael Collins, Chairman of the Association’s Parade Participant Committee. “All of us need to honor our vets particularly on Veterans Day”, he added.
To encourage participation, Collins suggested entrants consider entering a float to honor the veterans. The Association is offering two cash prizes and a trophy for the best floats in the parade. Parade Application Forms and the Float Contest Rules can be obtained by calling Collins at 864-457-3115 or sending him an email at mc3115@aol.com.
