The Polk County Recreation Department has partnered with Carolina Junior Tennis to offer beginner tennis classes. These classes will be held at the O.P. Earle tennis courts in Landrum every Wednesday from 4:30 – 5:30 pm starting Sept. 3. The first session is free to all Polk County children to try it out and see if tennis is something they want to continue.
There is a fee for the 8-week program, and registration will be handled by Polk County Recreation.
In this program, children will be provided racquets and will learn the forehand and backhand groundstrokes, the volley and the serve. Each class has a fitness/ movement component, a skill component, drills to reinforce the skills and fun games.
Carolina Junior Tennis has an extensive junior tennis development program for all levels of play, from the beginner level to the high performance player seeking college play.
