Correction to previous letter

To the editor:
I wanted to make a correction to my previous letter, regarding the meeting of the
Polk County Commissioners. I misspoke when I stated that the vote to approve the
changes to the rules regarding citizens’ comments was approved by a 4 – 1 vote. It
was actually a 3 – 1 vote, as Commissioner Keith Holbert was not in attendance at
this particular meeting (8/4/2014). It was unclear to me whether or not the absent
commissioner had appointed a proxy to vote in his stead, but the motion to change
the aforementioned rules was approved, over the objections of the citizens who
spoke, and Ray Gasperson’s dissenting vote. I just wanted to clarify this point. Thank
you.
