Tryon resident Jean Pettigrew will give a special talk on the history of a collection of Russian artifacts at Lanier Library on Sunday, July 27.
Items representative of pre-Revolution Russia will be on display in the special collections case at the library. These include an old Bible, photographs and decorative objects of the period of the Romanovs.
This free event will be held at 4 p.m. Coffee and cookies will be served, and the public is invited. Members are encouraged to bring guests who are not yet members to introduce them to the cultural offerings, history and unique attractions of Tryon’s Lanier Library, which will celebrate its 125th anniversary as a civic institution next year.
