Green Creek Volunteer Fire Department commemorates 50 years July 19

The Green Creek Volunteer Fire Department has been serving Green Creek and Polk County since 1964.
The department would like to invite the public to come out and commemorate their 50 years of service on July 19 from 4 – 8 p.m.
They will be having an open house to let everyone see the equipment and facilities they offer the community. There will be firefighters on hand to answer questions and to provide information to the citizens.
Green Creek is not just a fire department. They have 45 highly skilled and trained volunteers to answer calls for help and 12 first responders who also take additional training to respond to medical emergencies and provide an ambulance when Polk County EMS is unable to respond.
Green Creek has grown from operating out of the first firehouse at the Green Creek Family Life Center to operating out of two stations. They currently operate three engines, two tankers, two brush trucks, one support unit with a mobile command post and the jaws-of-life, a 4×4 quick response vehicle and an ambulance.
Again, the public is encouraged to come out and meet the volunteers for the Green Creek Fire Department.
A meal, refreshments and deserts will be provided.
