Fourth annual Growing Cycle Bicycle Farm Tour
Published 10:00 pm Thursday, June 19, 2014
The Polk County Cooperative Extension Center and the Mill Spring Agricultural Center are hosting a 37-mile bike ride on June 21 at 8 a.m. (Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.). This event will provide the experience of riding in the foothills and sampling local foods.
“Local Foods” is a positive approach to supporting our local economy and local farmers.
The Growing Cycle is an opportunity to support those farmers as well as being outdoors and riding the foothills on your bike.
Participants are treated to a lunch at the end of the ride at Parker Binns Winery with wood fired pizza prepared by Greg McCarren at Foothills Fireplace and Stove’s.
The pizzas are made with local ingredients from local farms. The event raises money for a demonstration kitchen located at the Mill Spring Ag Center which will provide a learning area for citizens to learn cooking classes
