Blue Ridge Barbecue and Music Festival first timer Donny Bray (pictured center) won the Grand Champion barbecue award with him team Warren County Pork Choppers at the Tryon festival on Saturday, June 14. This was Bray’s seventh grand champion title this year, but his first trip to Tryon’s festival. Bray is from Bowling Green, Ky and although didn’t win a first place in any category, placed in the top 10 in chicken, pork and brisket. A total of 73 teams competed for the title, which Bray won with a score of 694.7884. Close behind were Hambones By The Fire and defending champion Rocky Top BBQ, each with 692.5256. Uncle Kenny’s BBQ (689.6344) and Killer B’s BBQ (689.0628) rounded out the top five.
