One of Gowensville’s historic buildings needs substantial repairs.
The Saturday, June 7 Spring Fling from 11 a. m. until 2 p.m. will start an ambitious fund-raising campaign with a $6,000 goal. Fling sponsor, the Greater Gowensville Association, will track the campaign’s progress with an outside thermometer.
The small brick building next to the Gowensville Community Center needs roof and fascia replacement. This building originally housed the library and kitchen for the 92-year-old school, now the community center.
The fling will feature sale of Gowensville t-shirts, license tags, Christmas ornaments and bricks from the buildings’ chimneys. The bricks are cleaned and tied with a ribbon along with a tag showing a picture of the school.
The Dark Corner Food Truck will provide edibles.  Both buildings will be open to the public and information about rental of the facilities will also be available.  Books will be for sale in the small building.
The Greater Gowensville Association, which oversees the buildings, is a 501 (c) (3) organization which also accepts donations.
The Gowensville Community Center is located at 14186 Highway 11, north of the intersections of highways 11 and 14. For more info contact Marie Kraft, 864-895-6283 or
